That is, whatever works.<\/p>\n<p>Think \u2018Modern Family\u2019 or \u2018This Is Us\u2019 or think of the family next door, perhaps with two mommies or the family that was created by three, maybe even four, parents [think donor sperm, gestational mother and her husband. Maybe only two of the adults are the parents who are raising the child, but there was still one other who helped in creation. Think about \u2018his, hers and ours\u2019 or \u2018his, his and ours\u2019. The permutations and variations are endless.<\/p>\n<p><strong>What truly matters is raising emotionally healthy children in a loving family<\/strong>, however that family may be constructed.<\/p>\n<p>With this mindset, please read the article below.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/parenting\/wp\/2018\/07\/05\/our-family-isnt-what-we-expected-but-were-making-it-work\/?utm_term=.a46bec07eb70\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/news\/parenting\/wp\/2018\/07\/05\/our-family-isnt-what-we-expected-but-were-making-it-work\/?utm_term=.a46bec07eb70<\/a><\/p>\n<p>Foster parents, who had hoped and dreamed and planned on having biological children, \u2018found\u2019 themselves in a very different kind of family. Birth mother who had many challenges and issues and at one point was deemed not able to parent her children. Children who had been moved from one home to another to another. More children born to the birth mother. Mix them all together and what did they get? A large, non-traditional, mixed up, happy, extended family that came together to provide love and support and stability for children, children to love for the parents and support and a whole new kind of family for everyone.<\/p>\n<p>Yes, it takes a lot of work; a lot of faith; a lot of generosity, but the rewards can be enormous. This may not be a \u2018perfect\u2019 family, but does such a thing even exist?
